Aptitude Test Results by Grade
Sunset Mesa administers standardized tests to all students
in Grades 1 through Grade 5 each year in April. We
used the Stanford Achievement Test Series, Ninth Edition
(SAT 9) through 2005 and began administering the SAT
10 in 2006. All of the Stanford tests are norm-referenced
nationally and adjusted for the time of year the test
is administered. These tables show the mean percentile
rank of Sunset Mesa students by grade level.

to the 90th Percentile in National School Norms
Companies that develop the nationally-normed standardized
tests have also computed national school percentile
rankings in reading and math. To compute a national
school percentile, the testing companies average the
percentile ranking of each student in each grade level
in each school; they then make a percentile ranking of
the school. The chart below compares the average
student percentile rank of Sunset Mesa students by grade
level with the average student percentile rank required
to be at the 90th percentile of school scores nationally
on the SAT 10th Edition.
