Sunset Mesa School Overview
Sunset Mesa, an independent school in Albuquerque, New Mexico, provides instruction and learning opportunities for children entering preschool, Pre-K, kindergarten, and elementary grades 1st-5th. Established in 1948, we have been educating young children in academic excellence, strong character, and foundational learning for more than 65 years. We know these are precious and formative years for children and are committed to each child’s development by providing strong role models and consistent partnering with parents. Applying to Sunset Mesa
Applications for 2018-2019 school year will be available October 20, 2017. Limited openings for the 2017-2018 academic year may be available. Please contact the Admission Office at 505-298-7626, prior to submitting an application, to inquire about openings for your respective grade level(s) of interest.
Kindergarten applicants must be 5 years old by September 1st.
Step 1: Inquire and Schedule a Tour
To begin the admission process, complete the Request Information to schedule a parent tour of our campus. Once you have toured our school, you will be invited to schedule a student visit for your child.
Step 2: Complete Online Application and Submit Payment
Click Admissions Online to begin the online application process. Once you have completed the application forms, a Submit Application and Make Payment option will appear. Please follow the instructions provided to submit your application, along with the non-refundable $100 application fee.
Step 3: Submit to Sunset Mesa

At the conclusion of the first grading period, please download the Teacher Recommendation form and deliver the form to your child’s current teacher, along with a stamped envelope, addressed to:

Admission Decision and Enrollment
A completed admission file consists of an application, application fee, school records, student assessment, and teacher recommendations. Completed files are reviewed and families are notified of our admission decision once re-enrollment of our current students has been completed. Procedures for enrollment will be discussed once an admission decision is made.
Midyear and Summer Admission
Once a school year has commenced, applications will be accepted throughout the year, depending on available space. Openings for the following year may also be possible during the summer. Please contact the Admission Office to inquire about K-5 openings prior to submitting an application.
