Schedule a Tour
We would love to answer your questions and schedule a personal tour with you. A visit to our campus will allow you to see our instruction firsthand, ask specific questions, and learn valuable information about our school. We will discuss curriculum, financial obligations, and what makes Sunset Mesa the best educational choice, not only for your child, but also for your family.
An important part of the admission process is a time to meet your child. Student visits vary in length, with careful consideration given to your child’s age and experience in a classroom setting. An informal assessment is necessary for children applying to kindergarten through fifth grade. The purpose of the informal assessment is to determine your child’s strengths and learning style. The information we receive from the assessment allows us to discuss with you how Sunset Mesa will fit into your family’s future.
Preschool and Pre-K: Children applying for our preschool programs may visit an Early Childhood or Montessori classroom and participate in a variety of exciting, fun, and creative activities. Children will also have an opportunity to experience our spacious playground and spend time in our beautiful garden.
Kindergarten: Student visits for children applying to kindergarten are scheduled from 8:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m. beginning in January. Your child will have the opportunity to visit a kindergarten classroom and participate in familiar and fun classroom activities. During this time, an informal assessment will be given by one of our kindergarten teachers in the classroom setting. This one-on-one interaction provides an opportunity for the teachers to become personally acquainted with your child and to assess kindergarten readiness.
Grades 1-5: Student visits for Grades 1-5 consist of a full day (7:45–2:30 p.m.) classroom visit in the child’s current grade level. Throughout the day, your child will experience interesting and challenging classroom and enrichment activities. The student visit will include an assessment which will take approximately 45 minutes.
